WE ARE ALL THE SAME, combined technique, 100 x 200 cm, 00:01:51, 2016, a group of artists
The work "We are all the same" was created as part of the exchange project of young artists from Croatia, Spain, Great Britain and Hungary called "Art's here, Rights now!", and took place in Karlovac in 2016. The theme of the project was solidarity. On this occasion, my colleague Tally and I decided to draw caricatures of representatives from each participating country and give the opportunity to all artists who were interested to participate in the work, drawing graffiti on the caricatures. Graffiti is generally considered vandalism in public perception. They are a way of showing social problems. People constantly differentiate between each other, and we wanted to show how we are all the same in the end. It doesn't matter what country we come from, what kind of family, whether we are black or white, rich or poor. We all live, make mistakes, love, laugh, cry, etc. These images are accompanied by sound, the melody of heartbeats and breathing, because I believe that two essential actions that unite all people, regardless of what they are, what race, gender, faith and the like are heartbeat and breathing. The heart begins to beat a few days after conception and continues to beat as long as a person lives. Breathing is an action that is also necessary for all of us, but the heart still beats even when we are not breathing.
