THE TRACES OF THE PASTphotography, 2017

The past is part of us, part of our lives. This is a photographic story of one of the oldest and largest cinemas in Croatia - Cinema Edison. Cinema Edison was built in 1920. It has kept its cinematic purpose for decades. In 1999, Edison cinema forever closed its doors and as the reason for its closure mentioned is a bad economic situation in the country.

The photographic project "The Traces of the Past" happened during a residency in Karlovac. I find out from Karlovac people what Edison's cinema was once and what it meant to the city of Karlovac. Cinema Edison many years ago was a lot of people, yelling, crying, laughing and now of all that only the walls and things are still there and waiting for their time to come again.

In the photographs, I do not show the whole spaces of cinema but its details, features, things that are inside, which show the neglect and forgetfulness of an already known social site. Therefore, photographs do not give a full description of cinema but only a small part, a small but important cadre.
